On May 25th, 2020, Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin killed Geroge Floyd by pinning his neck to the ground with his knee for over 8 minutes. This event sparked outrage in the United States, which I’m sure you don’t need me to remind you of. In light of the protests and momentum following this event, I compiled a list of statistics surrounding police violence in the U.S. to offer another resource people could use to educate themselves and others., and created a graphic that could be easily shared on all social media platforms. These statistics include everything from police brutality, to crime rates, to incarceration rates, to consequences for officers involved, even to relevant legislature. All statistics included have been validated and fact-checked against credible sources.
